Patriots Pass Rusher Adrian Clayborn Talks About Being Benched The Last Two Weeks

Adrian Clayborn is a football defensive end for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft but signed with the Patriots earlier this year.

We didn’t see Clayborn on the field for the Patriots in the final two weeks of the regular season. He missed the team’s games against the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets. However, the team didn’t take his absence seriously because they were able to take down both of their AFC East rivals rather easily to put a bow on the year.

According to recent reports, Clayborn isn’t trying to cause much of any drama as New England prepares for the playoffs. When reporters asked him about his back-to-back healthy scratches, he shared:

“I don’t want to get into it. I’m not really trying to start any rifts or anything, but I don’t know. It is what it is. That’s over and done with. Moving forward, we’ll see where it goes. Playoffs now, can’t really be negative about anything.”

The reason why we didn’t see Clayborn in the previous two games was Bill Belichick’s tinkering around with his game day roster. The coach was looking at other player before the start of the playoffs. When asked about this, Belichick said:

“I mean, look, there’s a lot of guys we could have played in the last couple weeks that were inactive that we just couldn’t activate. So, it was him a couple weeks. It’s been other players. In the end, we just have to pick the ones we feel like would be the most important for that particular game, and it changes week to week.”

The Patriots have this week off. We will see them again on the field next Sunday for their first playoff game!
